Strong Communities Make A Strong Nation

The effect of the national disaster was a topic of conversation at a recent board meeting. The disasters in New York and the Pentagon have awakened a spirit of giving all across the nation.

Not only are people giving to those particular needs, but they’re looking for ways to build their own communities. Showing that the U.S. will continue to look to the future and take pride in itself and its people.

What we can do as a community foundation was one of the points of discussion. Many stated the need to know our own community better.

The events of September emphasize the need to welcome, get to know, and mentor newcomers. The grants committee will explore an initiative to encourage and support activities addressing this issue.

In the aftermath of September 11, let's remember that strong communities make a strong nation.
