PAST BUSINESS REACHES TO THE FUTURE

"Let’s make the next generation better than ours by our commitments today.”
Bob Schmidt

The Bud Schmidt Trucking Company is one of many home grown businesses no longer in existence in Waseca, however, were part of making the Waseca area what it is today. The trucking company was founded in 1937 and closed in 1982. The Schmidt family dates back to the founding of Waseca. For six generations the community has been good to the Schmidts and now Bud and Lorraine Schmidt and Schmidt Law Office, LTD are giving back through the Waseca Area Foundation.

Their contribution is an endowment named for the Bud Schmidt Trucking Company. The funds are undesignated, so the foundation can use them where the need is greatest. The donation itself will remain untouched – only earnings will be spent. “ The gift is never spent, but its keeps giving in the future,” said Pat Abbe, WAF’s executive director.

Through their gift, the Schmidts are honoring the past with a strong commitment to Waseca’s future. As Bob Schmidt wrote in giving the funds, “Alone we will survive, but together (all contributors to the Waseca area) and united we will do great things for Waseca and the children who come after us.”
